In my experience, weddings can be one of the most challenging subjects to photograph, for all sorts of reasons. It is after all, a huge responsibility to capture someone’s special day. So I tend to stay well clear of weddings and stick to photographing just about anything else. Let’s just say I’m much more comfortable taking action shots in an underground mine, in extreme low light, than I am photographing a wedding reception.
That said, on occasion though I have been known to take my camera along if I find myself invited to a wedding. Although it’s never in a professional capacity.
I recently had the pleasure of attending a friend’s wedding in Lake Cliffton. They chose not to hire a professional photographer, so I agreed to take a few shots. It was a lovely day, and even though I quite enjoyed the experience, I still won’t be venturing into the world of wedding photography. It’s a saturated market, with plenty of extremely talented – not to mention courageous and brave! – photographers out their doing their thing.
