As a photographer I love exploring my own backyard. I was recently asked by the editor of Freo Pages, an online community magazine, to contribute an article and to share some of my photographic work. So I made a few trips to Fremantle to take a series of photographs for publication.
My first article I decided on the theme of Lights of Fremantle.
I’ve always found Fremantle to be a fascinating city and it’s very photogenic. It’s got so many different sides, which is probably why it’s become so popular with both tourists and locals. I’ve always had a preference for natural landscapes, but more recently I’ve developed an interest in urban and night photography. And Fremantle is the perfect location to develop these photography skills.
With the love for colours and lights, I like the challenge of night photography. It’s a great time to explore Fremantle because most of the popular photography spots are less crowded. And everything changes after dark too, so you get a very different perspective of Freo. Night photography also helps to develop your eye for lighting because there’s so little of it. With my trusty tripod, I am getting better at taking pictures in very low light.
